My Collage of 30 Days of Painting

Here is my work from the last few weeks; actually, months. Some were painted over the summer and some this month. I can't produce something everyday, but I am frequently painting. Glad I got to post something every day for September!

Last one for September Challenge

Sometimes you run out of ideas, so you use what's right in front of you! This is the view from the balcony where we are staying on vacation.

My hope is to finish this challenge without missing a day. It's hard! And I'm on vacation, so I'm trying to fit in a cat each day for the rest of the month.

Orange Cat

Trying to stay up to date with my art while on vacation. A real challenge! This one was done with watercolor, colored pencils and white ink for the whiskers.

Ships on the Severn

Another one from our favorite spot in Annapolis. Lots of boats to see this time of year. Pretty soon, all will be quiet and it will just be the gulls and herons.

Goshen Farm

Plein air painting at a local historic farm. It was a steamy, sunny day. It's hard to concentrate when you're really sweating!

Fantasy Art

I'm trying something different today. My mind is on getting ready for a trip, so I painted abstractly with this one. It will be interesting to see if I can keep posting despite being away!

Another one from our favorite spot at the Naval Academy Sea Wall in Annapolis, MD. Watercolor and a touch of white ink.

Bunny

No cat today. Saw a bunny in my view, so painted it instead of what I was supposed to be working on. Flexibility!

Practicing Cats

I love cats and want to get better at painting them, so I plan to do a few more for this challenge.

Close to Home

I did some painting outside at a little picnic area near our condo building. My perspective is off some, so I guess I'll fix it later on.

Ballet Dresses

Still life of dresses in the studio at Chesapeake Fine Arts. We had to paint indoors because of rain.

Spouse as Model

I don't have a lot of experience painting people. In fact, I've avoided the subject as much as possible. But this summer, my instructor insisted that our class get comfortable putting people in our paintings. So I practiced using my husband as the model. With his permission, of course!

A quick study in watercolor and ink of some hydrangea plants in early spring.

Plein Air Easton

As a student with the Chesapeake Fine Arts Studio, I was able to participate in the "Rehearsal Quick Draw" at Plein Air Easton this summer. It was a lot of pressure and I had a hard time concentrating, but I didn't totally dislike my effort in this fast two-hour competition!

At the Park

Little study of trees at Lake Waterford Park in Pasadena, MD. Lots of squirrels there, too.

At the Sea Wall

This was a quick study done on location at the USNA Sea Wall. My husband and I like to go there early in the evening on Sundays to watch the boats and maybe get to see some wildlife. It's a favorite spot.

Mildred's Barn

Here's another one where the scanner just blew out my colors. I'm too lazy to photograph it instead. This was painted at an artist's friend's farm in Maryland.

Another day of a little painting at the beach, 5 x 7 watercolor only. I am always surprised by how washed out my paintings look when I scan them in. Guess I need to use a heavier color mixture!
