Here is my handiwork from the last 30 days of posts for 2016. It was a lot of work, but well worth the effort!

Blast from the Past

No butts (nor cats) were harmed in the making of this ink and watercolor sketch of our adoring cat, Sheba, who loved to accompany my husband in the bathroom. This is from 11 years ago, as I didn't have it in me to paint anything new this time. (Husband granted permission for this to be posted!)

Bare Trees

This was painted in early spring of this year, on location at the Chesapeake Fine Arts Studio on Kent Island, looking out the window. Our class was supposed to be painting outside that day, but it was too windy and cold!

Joy Joy

A quick pen, ink and watercolor sketch of my friend's dog - Joy. She's a sweet girl!

Garden Sketch

I only had about 20 minutes to work on this at the tail end of a class. Garden and herb patch in Stevensville, MD.

Seagull on Beach

I have ventured into using pastels. This is very new to me. I still have a ways to go in technique. I can see this becoming a new love!

Welcome to Autumn

This is one of my first paintings in all acrylic. I tried to capture the sunlight peaking through the tree branches.

Larson Hall - USNA

I did this watercolor and ink sketch early in the spring of this year. As I am now on vacation, I had to pick something done earlier in the year. This was on the grounds of the US Naval Academy.

Still Life

Floating By

My husband and I enjoy hanging out by the sea wall at the Naval Academy. I often take my watercolor kit and sketch. Here's yet another boat!

Boat Study

I'm not a big fan of painting boats. In Annapolis, there are boats everywhere. I thought I would try this one because it didn't have any sails to worry about painting!

Marshland

Another plein air watercolor. I scanned this instead of photographing. Now I see that photos turn out better. This one is too washed out from the scanner.

Storm on the Severn

Here is the final painting from yesterday's study. I actually like them both. I want to paint more storm pictures, as I love a good stormy sky.

Storm Study

I was practicing different colors to use on a painting of the Severn River just before a storm. I will post the final painting tomorrow.

Just my Imagination

A watercolor sketch I did from my imagination. I will be at the beach in a week, and I can't wait!

Across the Severn

This was painted on location from the sea wall on the grounds of the US Naval Academy. It is a lovely spot to watch boats and see some herons if you're lucky.

Abigail

My sweet little cat, Abigail, seems to be a bit under the weather today. Hopefully, she will be better tomorrow. She's an adult cat with a kitten-sized head, and her nickname is Sassafras!

Marina at Possum Point

There is a little marina/picnic area at Possum Point that has a nice shady spot to paint from my car window. That's what I did here. The trick is to NOT spill your paint water in the car!

Annapolis Harbor

Last Day for the Pool!

Sorry to see the summer go. I will miss you, happy pool! Time to close for the season.

Boat Abstract

A quick little sketch during the Strawberry Moon evening. Everything was pink and purple, it seemed, that night.

Annapolis - Naval Academy & Chapel

Here's a view across the Severn River looking towards the Naval Academy. I live in a lovely area. This sketch was done in watercolor and ink - my two favorite mediums to combine.

Little Outhouse in Stevensville

Here's another "on location" watercolor painting I did at a town on Kent Island, MD.

Annapolis Sailboats

This was painted on location at Jonas Green Park in Annapolis, Maryland. I think it captures the essence of our pretty little town! Especially in the summer, there are always lots of sailboats on the Severn River when the weather is good.
