I had a moment to sit in front of the Naval Academy Chapel in the lovely yard overlooking the Severn River. I wish I could really draw and paint what I see. Didn't have time for all that, but a quick sketch was nice in that setting.
I am trying to stretch myself by attempting more abstract paintings. I hope to do more of them. It's nice to have the freedom to just "go with the flow" instead of trying to paint realistically.
Just a quick sketch from my imagination today. Not much time to really put forth a big effort. I like it, though. Sometimes quick and easy is best for creativity!
So, here we go again. I have signed up to do the 30-day challenge for September. I didn't finish the January challenge. Hope I can stick with it this time! My theme for this month's challenge is anything "Sky" related. That's to give me somewhere to focus my ideas on, but I can change that - it's not a hard rule. This little painting reminds me of my present struggle. I feel surrounded by darkness, but the light is trying to break through. I put my trust in Him to pull me out of the darkness. I John 1:5 -"God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/
The colors don't read true on the photo. It's supposed to be purple, but looks more like blue violet. I tried to paint the negative shapes around the branches instead of concentrating on the limbs.
